HE SAID WHAT?
Less then ten days before his first meeting with Pope Benedict XVI, President Obama invited a number of Catholic editors to the White House this morning for a conversation. During the course of the “conversation” the President promised that in health care reform and in any other legislation which might affect Catholic women and men of faith, there would always be conscience clause protection at least as strong as presently exists. Personally I am not surprised by this reassurance but I suspect others will be and there will always be those who don’t believe him. I happen to.
